VDL operates an online marketplace that connects Buyers with third-party Sellers for the purchase of goods and delivery of same. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect the personal information of both Buyers and Sellers when using our marketplace.

By accessing or using our platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please refrain from using our services.

 

1. Information We Collect

A. From Buyers:

•           Personal Information: Name, email address, phone number, shipping/billing address, credit card, bank account and payment details.

•           Transaction Data: Order history, purchase details, and interactions with Sellers.

•           Technical & Usage Data: IP address, device information, browser type, cookies, and browsing behaviour.

B. From Sellers:

•           Business & Personal Information: Name, business name, contact details, tax ID, bank/payment details, and (if applicable) government-issued identification.

•           Product & Transaction Data: Listings, inventory, product specification, product compliance with requisite applicable laws and regulatory bodies, pricing, order fulfilment details, and Buyer interactions.

•           Technical Data: IP address, login activity, and platform usage analytics.

 

2. How We Use Your Information

A. For Buyers:

•           To process orders, facilitate payments, and arrange shipping.

•           To communicate order updates, promotions, and Buyer support.

•           To detect and prevent fraud, scams, or unauthorized transactions.

•           To improve marketplace functionality and user experience.

 

B. For Sellers:

•           To verify identity and business legitimacy.

•           To facilitate transactions, payouts, and tax compliance.

•           To resolve disputes and enforce marketplace policies.

•           To analyse sales performance and optimize Seller tools.

 

3. Sharing of Information

We may share information with:

•           Sellers: Necessary Buyer details (e.g., shipping address, contact info) to fulfil orders.

•           Payment Processors: To complete transactions securely.

•           Logistics Partners: For order delivery and tracking.

•           Legal & Regulatory Authorities: If required by law or to prevent fraud.

•           Third-Party Service Providers: For analytics, marketing, security, and Buyer support (under strict confidentiality agreements).

Note: Sellers are independently responsible for handling Buyer data in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

 

4. Legal Basis for the Processing of Personal Data

We will only process your personal data where we have a legal basis to do so. The legal basis will depend on the purposes for which we have collected and used your personal data. In almost every case the legal basis will be one of the following:

Consent: For example, where you have provided your consent to receive certain marketing from us. You can withdraw your consent at any time, including by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of any marketing email we send you

Our legitimate business interests: Where it is necessary for us to understand our Buyers, promote our services and operate effectively, provided in each case that this is done in a legitimate way which does not unduly affect your privacy and other rights.

Performance of a contract with you: This would also apply where we need to take steps prior to entering into a contract with you. For example, where you have purchased a product from us and we need to use your contact details and payment information in order to process your order and send the product to you.

Compliance with law: Where we are subject to a legal obligation and need to use your personal data in order to comply with that obligation.

11. Disclaimer

VDL acts solely as an intermediary between Buyers and Sellers. We are not liable for:

•           Seller product quality, accuracy, or legal compliance.

•           Disputes between Buyers and Sellers (though we may assist in resolution).

•           Data breaches caused by Seller negligence.

Sellers are independently responsible for adhering to privacy laws when handling Buyer data.
